I would like to know why skateboarding and snowboarding stances are called goofy and regular. If it is possible, I would also like to know what is the normal etymology of these words (I think regular comes from latin but I’m not sure).

I was better than all the high school guys who had been snowboarding the same amount of time as me and I was wondering how can I get pursue this as I get older and get the oppurtinity to board more. I can carve well, have mediumly ok aireal skills as I can do grabs and spins, and love off piste and want to try freeriding (I like carving the most and exploring powder) please help!
